Must Haves • 1+ year of experience as a charge nurse • 5+ years of nursing experience in a hospital setting • BSN • WA RN license Plusses • MSN Job Description The Assistant Nurse Manager of the Medical Unit has first-line manager responsibilities for the functioning of the unit. This person will work with the Nurse Manager to fulfill a commitment to clinical excellence displayed through participation in and support of scientific inquiry, the consistent implementation of clinical standards of care and practice, and through professional development activities for self and staff. The assistant nurse manager will have the opportunity to be a part of a growing facility and work with a great team culture. Day-to-Day • Provides supervision of clinical staff for daily operations of the medical unit. • Assures patient care is consistently provided by organizationally/system-wide accepted standards of care and practice. • Assures that service standards, policies, and procedures meet or exceed regulatory standards. • Models expert decision-making, collaboration and negotiation skills to maximize patient outcomes and resource utilization. • Demonstrates effective management of staffing resources by providing for an appropriate skill mix and numbers of staff for the service. • Empowers staff in decision-making/problem-solving with an aim of quality (including cost-effectiveness) and continuity in care. • Assures the development and adherence to appropriate policies and procedures, safety programs, and quality assurance and improvement activities to meet state and federal standards and regulations that apply to areas of responsibility. • Information Management-as requested by Manager, collaborates with support services to determine data sets required for both short and long term decision-making. • Develops staffing plan, and equipment and supply inventory needs in collaboration with manager • Administration and Operations. • Hires, evaluates, and as needed, terminates employment staff. • Provides staff with informal and formal feedback on performance.
